Is Atlanta The Best Show on TV And Other Important Life Questions

We can debate all day about the best show on TV  but for my money, it’s Atlanta. Not because the writing is so good (although it is) or because  LaKeith Stanfield’s acting is so amazing (same). It’s not because Earn is the most down-to-earth, likable character since Gopher on Love Boat or Paper Boi has a Biggie Smalls soft spot for humanity. It’s simpler.

Atlanta is the best show on TV because it’s unexpected. Think about that. Name another show on TV that truly surprises you each week. For that matter, name another show that doesn’t follow it’s specific genre to the T. Ozark was a great show but in the end it was a pretty standard crime/drama. Succession is a great show but it doesn’t really take you down unexpected takeover paths. Stranger Things. Better Call Saul. We Own This City. You know exactly where you’re headed and what you’re gonna get.

Not Atlanta. One week you’re seeing the world through the eyes of a young black child caught up in the brutal system of foster care, the next week you’re a middle class white dude losing your job, your wife, and your daughter AND paying reparations.

If you grew up in the 80’s and experimented with drugs, watching Atlanta is like taking a hit from your favorite bong, playing Lite Bright all night on shrooms or making out with a forbidden neighbor on ecstasy.  It’s a wonderfully creative reminder that life before marriage, before kids, before responsibility was filled with possibilities. More than anything, I love the fact that every time Earn and Paper Boi step outside, anything is possible. One night you might find yourself cutting down a man’s beloved weeping willow because he owes you poker money, the next night you’re in a cancel culture bar with Liam Neeson explaining white privilege.

Sometimes I have no idea what’s going on or why I’m even watching. Other times I can’t believe someone had the guts to write an entire episode about a missing cell phone. In a world where everything seems so contrived and similar, Atlanta is just different. And that’s a beautiful thing.

Other Important Life Questions:

Isn’t There One Russian Willing To Kill Putin?

When the war first started, a few people said to me, “Hopefully, someone will kill Putin so we can get back to normal.” What’s taking so long? He just went to that big parade thing. That seemed like a good time. Where’s the Russian Mark Wahlberg with the white snow suit in the mountains and the telescopic rifle with unlimited range? Isn’t there one Russian out there willing to take him out so the rest of the world can get back to normal? Can’t we pay someone a bunch of money or get em a new Tesla or something? Just seems like someone should get this done

Is There One Toenail Fungus Cream That Really Works?

I’ve tried more than a few and none of them have worked. Then a few months will go by, I’ll see a new one advertised on FB or Instagram, I’ll read the reviews from patients “It made my toes look like lilacs,” “Fungus is for mushrooms, not toes!” and I’ll buy a new cream. This just happened last week. I’m waiting for the cream to come from China. China makes the best creams. No one in China has toe fungus. The government won’t allow it. I may need to move to China to fix this problem.

There are other important questions to be answered but it’s late and I’m tired. More next week.
