A lot of people think it’s bad karma to bet on Christmas day because it’s supposed to be a sacred time to spend with family. But do you think for one second that NBA commissioner Adam Silver would do anything that’s not in the best interests of the American people? When ESPN’s Malika Andrews asked Silver if the NBA would pause the season due to the recent outbreak of COVID cases that brought Joe Johnson, Darren Collison and Lance Stevenson back on the floor, Silver said he didn’t see any point in pausing the season. Look, if it doesn’t make sense to Adam Silver, it doesn’t make sense to me. As far as I’m concerned, Adam Silver is already a better president than Joe Biden and he’s not even president.
I do worry about Silver’s health though. His head appears to be shrinking. It’s like that trash compactor scene in Star Wars when the bodies are about to be crushed by the walls closing in on either side. Is Adam Silver trying to elongate his face because he doesn’t want to appear fat on TV? I know it’s an issue for a lot of celebrities, I hope he’s OK.
Speaking of OK, if the NBA is willing to bring back all these old players to fill out rosters during the pandemic, why not take it a step further. If a team can’t have a legit starting five on the floor, why not bring back some really old players/teams and give the fans something they really want to see.
“LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, THE ROLE OF THE HOUSTON ROCKETS TONIGHT WILL BE PLAYED BY THE 1982 NORTH CAROLINA TAR HEELS FEATURING JAMES WORTHY, SAM PERKINS, AND MICHAEL JORDAN!”
Why not bring back entire college rosters and have them play an NBA game? You can’t tell me the old Houston Phi Slamma Jamma with Akeem, Drexler and Benny Anders wouldn’t be more entertaining to watch than some the players the NBA is putting in uniform. Silver is always talking about a break in the season to run a separate championship cup tournament. Has there ever been a better time in NBA history than now?
For those of us helplessly addicted to gambling, we’re just glad there are games to bet on tomorrow even if half the rosters are filled with G League players. So who should you bet on?
Moneyline Parlay: Bucks +Suns (-108)
Giannis is supposed to play and the Bucks are the better team even if he’s not at 100%. Similarly, the Suns with Booker back are just better than the Warriors. That may change when Klay and Wiseman return in January but right now Phoenix is playing better basketball.
Lakers -1 (-110)
At some point, Lebron just has to win a game for his team. You can talk about the injuries, the pandemic, inflation, rising gas prices, nursing shortages, unequal pay, the lack of affordable used cars on the market, all problems for sure. But what about you supposedly being the greatest player to ever play the game (ha!) and you can’t win a game on your own for your team? Tomorrow there will be no KD, no Kyrie, no Aldridge. Just fat ass james Harden and a bunch of no names. If you can’t win a game on national TV on X-mas day than please don’t talk about how you’re still one of the greatest to ever play the game.
And on that note, Merry Christmas!
